While I'm sure everyone is out at a Superbowl event tonight, fawning over Beyonce's latest edge- snatching appearance, I'm in the comfort of my own home, writing to you all about it.
I don't know about y'all but I've come to appreciate my alone time at home and have found myself less interested in going out. Aside from the fact that I don't feel that I am my best self physically, I'm just downright a homebody. Mix that with the cold weather and you just may never see me out in public unless you frequent my gym, my local target, and anyplace within a 5 mile radius of my home.
My friends cant stand me. They invite me out time and time again but they really know there's only a 35% chance that I may go. I'm always gracious, it just never seems to be the right timing.
Right now I feel like I'm in beast mode (or at least trying to be)!
I'm trying to get my eating under control and trying to stay on my fitness program. I'm just not in the mood to be at any social gatherings where I will be tempted to fall off my square.
I'm one of those people that need to get my head in the game whole heartedly or I am doomed for failure. I'm not at all where I want to be in my life and I'm focusing on taking the necessary steps to get there. I feel like any distraction can make me lose sight of my short term goals which are so so important for my long term success.
So I stay to myself.
Naturally, I think a lot. I daydream often too and I've found that some of my greatest ideas are born when I do. A lot of my alone time is spent thinking, researching, listening to music and just generally getting myself together mentally and emotionally. I've been craving that alone time so much more lately and I don't feel bad or guilty about it.
As you get older you realize that you don't always have to be in the mix. I think its so very necessary to take time for yourself. I'm a big believer in self care over everything. Sometimes you just need to recharge away from the world, your favorite people included. If they cant understand that without getting offended, guess what? That ain't yo friend!
So next time you get an invite from some excited girlfriends to some event that you really don't want to attend, don't feel bad about declining.
Stay at home and have a spa day, watch movies, or sleep; hell sit in the dark if you want to! My point is:
Do whatever the hell makes you happy
and catch up with your crowd when you're ready.
